|
Lodging Available on Site for the Full Civano Experience ! |

This fun and informative workshop takes an engineering view at what ‘green’ really is. Enjoy a walking tour of Tucson’s premiere high-performance community, Civano: a Neo-Traditional, mixed-use community. See at least one custom home, inside and out, and learn about how xeriscaping, city reclaimed water, greywater and rainwater harvesting help Civano attain its 60% reduction in potable water usage. Morning snacks and lunch will be served by Café D’Auria, Civano’s newest business neighbor. Workshop attendees will be provided informative materials, including the new McGraw-Hill book co-authored by Al Nichols and Jason Laros: Inside the Civano Project—A Case Study of Large-scale Sustainable Neighborhood Development (a $70 value). Many presentation materials will be given to attendees on a reusable jump-drive. In the classroom, we’ll illustrate how material choices affect the environment via the concepts of embodied energy and energy performance modeling. Given current and future building code performance trends—what will homes look like in 10, 20,30 years? Note: On line registration is available. This workshop Sponsored By:
